I want to start using Outlook Express as my mail program. I've read
something about choosing HTML or "plain text" for e-mail. What is the
difference and what is recommended? I don't want my correspondents to get
something that will cause them problems.

Plain text is wise, and readable by most any mail client (program).
Definitely use it in newsgroups like this one - unless the group is
specifically for HTML.

Use HTML in mail and there is a risk that some folks may receive "garbage
text", or nothing at all. However, some folks enjoy exchanging the fancy
stuff...colored fonts, creating background images in mail, etc.

Thanks for the info. The only ones I know for sure that read "fancy" text is
AOL and MSN. I'll play it safe and use plain text for everyone else.

Left out a word, above. ^_^
