Running win2000Pro...I can download new mail but I can no
longer open them or any old messages without getting the
program error..."msimn has generated errors and will be
closed by windows..you will need to re-start the
program...an error log is being created"...I can't even
find the log to read it. Can anyone help?

I've tried in vain to re-install Outlook Express...don't
know if it's possible...I do have all the updates...that's
when the problem started...

Hi Joe,

RE: "the program error.."

See if the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article helps:

KB258034 - OLEXP: Error Message: Msimn.exe Has Generated Errors and Will Be Closed by
Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=258034

RE: "I can't even find the log to read it."

By default the Drwtsn32.log file is located in the following folder. For more
information, search Windows 2000 Help for "application error log"
and/or see Dr. Watson Help (drwtsn32.chm).

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson

You may also find the following Web Site helpful. It is authored by Tom Koch,

Also, there are a lot of Outlook Express newsgroups. You may want to post to one of
those. Your message header seems to indicate that you are posting from the Microsoft
Communities Web Page. I am not certain what version of Outlook Express you are
running, though, so I can't provide a direct link.

Below you will find a link to the main Microsoft Communities Internet
Explorer/Outlook Express Newsgroups Web Page. Start there, then in left-side pane
click on the link for your version of Internet Explorer, then click on the Outlook
Express link.

http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer

BTW, if you post in the Outlook Express newsgroup, please include details such as:

- Operating System and Service Pack level
- Internet Explorer/Outlook Express Version
- Any changes made between the time Outlook Express worked, and now
- Any relevant messages from the drwtsn32.log file, or found in Event Viewer
(eventvwr.msc)
