Outlook Express wants to compress files

I am running Office 2007. To the best of my knowledge, I did not install
Outlook Express when I upgraded my computer to Office 2007 since I use
Outlook. However, whenever I turn on my computer, a message appears, asking
if I want Outlook Express to compress my files. I don't, so I must click
Cancel.

Why is this happening? PS it also happens on my laptop.

Express is part of Win/IE
Just click yes, then open Express and see what it contains
Perhaps you use it as a newsreader?

I checked Internet Options, and it does show Outlook Express for newsgroups.
However, I have never used it. In reading some of the threads under Outlook
Express, it appears that some nasty things can happen if one happens to allow
OE to compress files. Is there any way to stop it from running on Start-up? I
checked the start-up programs in msconfig, but didn't see it listed.

Since the compress file functions only on OE folders then what have you to
fear?
Have you actually opened OE to check as to what it contains?
Or asked in the OE groups as to what prompts this msg, for an installation
that doesnt apparantly utilise OE?
PS If you use the newsgroups function from within Outlook, that actually
opens the OE Newsreader

Nothing untoward happens if you allow OE to compress its folders. I don't
know what you read, but I think you may be misinterpreting it.
