Outlook Express Viewer Pane

I cannot get the viewer pane to not automatically download messages for my
mail inbox. Works fine for news groups, but not the mail inbox.

In the read options, the box is unchecked for "automatically download
messages when viewing in viewer pane".

In the view menu click on Layout and uncheck "Show viewer pane"
