outlook express upgrade windows xp

I just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP. When
using outlook express I have my address book but not my
past emails. Where are they and how can I import them.

I have tried to import and get nothing found in folders.
I have also checked the * .dbx files and have found
nothing.
