Outlook Express truncates my text as before

After SP2 installation I experience greater difficulties with my Outlook
Express. It truncates my texts if they are in the HTML format. It is exactly
Symptom 6 of the Description of the cumulative update for Outlook Express
(KB887797). I have followed all the instruction of Resolution 6 of this
document with big accuracy. I rerun my computer several times after this,
but nothing happend. Outlook Express truncates my text as before.

Did somebody use this document? What were results?

Thanks in advance.

I think the boys in this newsgroup might know the answer:

Are you posting from the machine in question? The headers of your post
("Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180") tell us that 887797
isn't installed.

If and when you do install it, the Resolution for Symptom 6 is enabled by
default and requires no further action by you.

Thanks, Robear!
You are right! The 887797 isn't installed in my computer. I found
KB887797-OE6SP1-20041112.131144.log and I thought it means that the 887797
is installed. But I found in the log-file that "version of Outlook Express
you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install."
I tried to install this update once more and received the same answer -
"version of Outlook Express you have installed does not match the update you
are trying to install."
Moreover, in very fresh document "Description of Software Update Services
and Windows Server Update Services changes in content" (15.12.2005) I find,
that KB887797 "update is no longer superseded by MS05-030; therefore,
reversed previous changes."
With all this going on my computer is updating automatically from Microsoft
site.
I have finally got confused, and my Outlook Express truncates my texts if
they are in the HTML format as usual.
Thanks in advance
Lev

My OE is at the same level at the OP. Windows Updated never notified me there was
any updates available for OE.

When I took a look at KB887797's documentation, I blanched. My God, my IQ is
only 269. It would take six days to work my way through all those complicated steps.
I'm old and don't want to take 15 years off my potential life span trying to make a
zillion RegEdit mods. Will tolerate OE's flaws rather to muck with KB887797 again.
PA Bear, thanks for the input anyway.

No, it's not. From your headers: "Microsoft Outlook Express
6.00.2900.2670". You have 900930 installed, OP does not ("Microsoft Outlook
Express 6.00.2900.2180").
Windows Updated never notified me
there was any updates available for OE.

If 900930 is not installed, 887797 is offered as an Optional Software Update
at Windows Update (left pane).

YW & I agree that 887797 is a poorly worded and all too technical KB
article.

You'd only need/want 887797 if you were suffering from any of the listed
Symptoms. Furthermore, you would have to uninstall 900930 before you could
install 887797.
