Outlook Express in Internet Explorer

I have three questions:
1. Is Outlook Express part of Internet Explorer so that, if I needed to
replace my version of Outlook Express, I'd have to at least download Internet
Explorer 6, which I currently have (or 7, see below);
2. While trying vainly to configure Outlook Express, I lost the icon and
text entry on the upper section of the Start All Programs menu; I have
replaced it with a short-cut on the lower part of the menu, but wondered if
there was a way to recover entries that had been on the upper section (where
Internet Explorer is currently located, for example).
3. Has anyone enough experience with IE 7 to recommend it?
Thanks, Peedee

No.

Can't help you there. Never have experienced the problem.
3. Has anyone enough experience with IE 7 to recommend it?

I have, and I can.

Works like a champ. on my system.

G'Day PD,

1. Outlook Express is part of IE.
2. In ANY part of the Start>All Programs Menu, Right-Click ANY Program
icon and choose 'Pin to start menu'
3. IE7 is currently at RC1 (release candidate 1) and is very good.

IE7 is betaware - make an informed choice - research it.
Do a Google for articles etc.
Start in the links below.
Consider though;
Are you a betaware tester
Do you have a second test system
Do you want to chance your one and only system to betware problems just for
the sake of trying it or must have cos its new.
Those who have had problems and have tried to revert back to IE6, have also
had problems.
It is your choice - make the right one for you.
I wish you luck.

Thanks Pat. Is IE7 downloaded right on top of IE6? Did this download include
a more recent version of Outlook Express?

Thank you - the old 'pork' is getting educated - slowly - just a collection
of comments from others, wrapped up into one bundle. Cant take all the
credit.

G'Day PD,

IE7 RC1 is installed as a removable update, so you can revert to IE6 by
removing it.
OE has not been changed (yet?) and is still at v6 - not included in IE7 RC1.
I suspect that when IE7 is released, OE will be re-versioned and bundled
then.

OE questions microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
IE questions microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Most of the questions in the latter are now about IE 7. I wish they set up a
separate group.

And I did switch to it and then switched back. It messed up my machine. It
is a while ago, so I can't remember how.

There will be no OE7. The new one that comes with Vista is Windows Mail.

Outlook Express requires Internet Explorer for it to work correct. So it is
part of Internet Explorer.
