Outlook Express Trf. inbox folder from disc to new XP

I backed up my OE mail boxes from Win98SE computer to cd
and now I am unable to transfer (move, copy anything) to
OE in XP in my new computer. I cannot find where the OE
folders are kept. When I went into Tools, Options,
Maint., Store folder change (which Dell suggested and I
decided was not correct) the current store is
c:\documents & settings\dc\local settings\application
data\ide. However, I could not find local settings,
etc........ I have tried Search for .dbx, Outlook
Express, etc. etc. and Search finds nothing. I have now
copied the folders to my desktop but still cannot find
where/how to put them in Outlook Express.

That's because XP considers dbx files to be idden system files, as with the
"local settings" folder. In Windows Explorer go to Tools-Folder Options-View
and check or uncheck the relevant options. Then you should be able to see
the "local settings" folder.

You can always import the 'old' files into oe.

To do this, goto file - import - messages - choose the version of oe that
matches what was installed on 98 (oe4 for oe4, oe6 for 5&6), and point the
wizard at the old .dbx files, choose import all - done!

To import your address book, follow the address book import wizard
