Outlook Express Spell Check

G

George Asimos

Since installing SP2, spell checking for outgoing mail
reports that it cannot complete the task. The message is
displayed immediately when I click send. I get around the
problem by writing emails in a word processor and then
pasting them into Outlook Express, but it would be more
useful to have spell check working within. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

George

OE does not come with a spellchecker. You need a 32 bit program to do
the job. MS Word, Publisher, Front Page, etc., all have spell check
ability that OE can use. What program are you using? Post the full error
message.

Hi George,

This is not SP2 related and this is not a normal error message. Post
verbatim. In the meantime:

Go to Start/Run/EXPAND X:\i386\CSAPI3T1.DL_ C:\CSAPI3T1.DLL (Where X is your
CD-Rom drive letter). And then copy it to: Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof

Or download the file here: Replace the Csapi3t1.dll file
http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html

An error occurred while the spelling was being checked.

Checkpoint: Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools

In the right pane where it reads: SharedFilesDir, verify that it reads:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared under Data.
