Outlook Express-password problem-automatic updates

Outlook Express has been working great but every few months I get a message
on log in:
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'pop.server.houston.rr.com', Server:
'pop-server.houston.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR User has
no maildrop', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

This time I noticed it happened after an automatic update from Microsoft for
XP. I then need to get new password from ISP(Broadband) before I can log on
and get e-mail. Any ideas??? PS: I am not very computer savy

0x800CCC90 POP3_RESPONSE_ERROR Client [that's you] response invalid.

0x800CCC92 POP3_INVALID_PASSWORD Password not valid for account.

The problem may be on Roadrunner's end but...

Try disabling email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional security and may be causing the problem.

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try one or more of your accounts in a new Named Identity
(File>Identities>Add new identity). Assuming all is well, import messages
from the old Identity before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage
Identities).

Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Hello, I got the very same problem with outlook. Tried to disable mail
scanning by Norton antivirus and creating a new identity but none of this
helped..

Any idea what one can do? Oh, and by the way, disabling antivirus scanner
seems to be a bit scary...
