Outlook Express not Spell Checking

On my old(other) machine I'm running Windows98 and Outlook Express 6.

Outlook Express is not spell checking. The red tick icon for spelling is
greyed out.

When I go to Tools>Options there is no 'Spelling Tab'.

How do I enable Spell Checking?

Outlook Express uses the spell checker that comes with
Microsoft Word. Your old machine probably doesn't have
Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works Suite installed.
