Outlook Express/Hotmail probem

Guest

I use Outlook Express for my ISP email and Hotmail account. Outlook Express
remembers the password for my ISP account, but refuses to quit asking me for
my Hotmail password. Once I enter it, it will retrieve my mail, or do
whatever it was I was asking. But every time I click in a different Hotmail
folder or Hotmail email message, it asks me again. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Please ask your question in one of the OE-specific newsgroups I cited. I
think we need to delve into this in greater detail and none of it has to do
with IE6.

This problem only started for me once I installed Internet Explorer 7 beta 2.

Now when I change folders in Outlook Express 6 (OE6) I get the logon box to
"Please enter username and password for this server". This only occurs on my
default/primary Hotmail account. My secondary account doesn't experience
this. Nor do my other IMAP accounts from other vendors.

I can hit Okay or Cancel, both work. Unless I'm sending, then I must hit
Okay.

I have tried making Hotmail, Microsoft, Msn trusted sites, changing the user
authentication option to automatically login, but to no avail.

This is not a fatal bug, where the account is unusable, it's just an
annoyance and a bit strange.

Now we know the rest of the story.

It's a known & reproducible bug which you'll see posted about many times in
IE General newsgroup.

This is an IE6-specific newsgroup. Beta testers of IE7 Public Preview are
asked to post their comments to microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
newsgroup.

I'm having the same problem. After installing IE7 Beta 2, I get
prompted to "Please enter your user name and password for the following
server." everytime I switch folders. If anyone has a solution, please
email me at madenwala at hotmail.com

thank you!
