Outlook Express error

When booting up, receive the following:
Microsoft Outlook - either there is no default client or the current mail
client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook &
set it as the default client. (I have Outlook Express as the default)

After Xing that out - must go into Internet Account and switch my incoming
Mail server back to what it should be instead of 127.0.0.1 (which it changes
back to every shut down.) Then it works fine.

When closing Outlook Express - receive the following error "outlook express
has encountered a problem & needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvience."

Used to work fine. Maybe some automatic update played some havoc? McAfee
firewall is granting full access. MS Outlook is not installed.
It is running Office 2000.
Anything before uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook Express?

Thanks in Advance,
Tim
