0x800CCC40 WINSOCK_WSASYSNOTREADY Network subsystem is unusable.

Has this account ever worked in OE?

Are you already connected to the internet when you open OE?

Are you running IE7?

This account has worked for the last 2 years.
I am using cable internet.
I'm using OE 6 and have reinstalled it.
I can't access the OE6 newsgroup either.

Not really, although I have had trouble with Adobe Reader v7 crashing after
about 30 secs and flash either not working or not installing if I go to a new
site that requires it.

However, since I wrote last, I have found 2 spyware trogans hiding in my
printer/spooler port 515 that I can't remove as they are LINUX trojans (ramen
& lpdworm), but as I use Windows XP Pro service pack 2 I don't know how I got
infected. I Have spoken to McAfee and they are going to email back soon with
removal instructions, I hope.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
