Outlook Express 6 closes when clicking the reply button to reply to an email.
There is no error message and the send fault to microsoft popup also does
not pop
up.
This has just started happening recently.
Some new windows updates were automatically installed recently and this
issue appears to have started after the update.
I am using Outlook Express 6 and Winndows XP Service Pack 3 with all
currrent updates.
Please help.

Hello Bruce,
Thanks for your fast response.
I tried your suggestion of creating another identity and importing the
messages and address book. I thought at first that this had fixed the
problem but then OE began closing when trying to reply to an email. I tried
rebooting the computer and also setting the new identity to load with OE, but
the problem remained. Something I didn't mention in my original post is that
sometimes a reply selection is successful, but there is no consistency as to
where and when.
I'm going to check out the basic repair kit and see if that helps.
Thanks again for your help.
Regards

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

What anti-virus program do you use? Make sure e-mail scanning is disabled
and check for Malware.

Did you test sending & receiving in the new identity *before* importing your
messages?
