I have backup my hardrive onto a external hardrive and
reformatted my internal hardrive. How do I retrieve my
old e mail information? My inbox and sent items folder,
from my external hardrive to my internal hardrive?

Setup your new Outlook Express with no account. Then you will import your
old folders.

OE stores its dbx files in the following path:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\[Bunch-o-HEX numbers]\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Your address book has the .wab extension & can be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Microsoft\Address
Book\[username].wab
