Outlook/Exchange permissions to prevent user from deleting messages

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to change something in the
mailbox permissions to prevent a user from deleting messages from his
mailbox.
I tried to change permissions in outlook but it didn't work. I guess
that permissions on AD will override permissions given in outlook!

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Miguel

No, but you can enable deleted items recovery.

What is the purpose? Is the employee accidently deleting messages you need
to recover or intentionally deleting stuff he's not supposed to delete?
Deleted items recovery will address the first problem. If the second is an
issue, you should be using an archive solution outside of the mailbox.

Hi!

The main goal is to prevent the user from accidently deleting
messages, because this is not his personal mailbox but some kind of
"special" mailbox where we should keep everything there. We have
backups but we would like to rely on that. In 2 or 3 years, we might
need to go back to the past and check the inbox, and restore is not
the best solution.
I my post I wrote that this is his mailbox but it's not 100% right.
What I want to say is that he user has access to the mailbox like if
it was own (because of 3rd party software).
If it is not possible to prevent the user from deleting messages, I
might forward messages to a "hidden" mailbox where no one goes!

thanks anyway!

Miguel
