I have users running Outlook 2003 / Server 2003 and we are starting to get
some users that have emails resent out again after being sent out months and
months ago. How does this happen?
Running Windows XP SP
Did you ever resolve old emails being sent again?
I have seen 5 cases of this recently. All laptop users I think. Not sure exactly how it is happening. I suspected either OST file coming into play, or items stuck in Outbox.
But the last user just had a spare laptop configured for their use. No Offline mode (no OST). Nothing stuck in Outbox (from Outlook view anyway)
Believe that the items were originally sent and received but somehow got stuck in limbo.
Looking in Sent Items they show up with original sent date.
I did some testing on that by doing a delayed email. The original time when clicking SEND is the sent timestamp.
Anyway, on this spare laptop it started sending old emails from a year back. She turned it off - the sending stopped.
I got on the laptop with her logged in. I opened Outlook and hit send/receive. The sync status showed at the bottom, but it did not say SENDING 1 of....
It did send about 3 more emails while looking and finally completed the send/receive after 10mins or so. Probably not happening any longer in that case.
Anyone have a clue where/how this might be happening?
I have seen it with Outlook 2003 and 2007.
