outlook email

Well. .... where do I start? In XP and previous versiosn I got used to
dragging my emails into my calendar, which was conveniently located in the
panel on the left side of my screen. Now there are tiny icons at the top of
the screen, which I don't seem to be able to move, and I cannot drag emails
into the calendar,, which is a HUGE inconvenience. Any ideas how to recover
that function or is it gone forever???

Outlook has nothing to do with either Vista or windows Mail, or any version
of windows.
There are a number of specific Outlook groups, when you re post to one of
them you should state the version of Outlook and the o/s used

That capability was not present in Outlook Express, only in Outlook.
You downgraded from Outlook to Windows Mail, so you should not
be surprised that you lost the premium features. If you want those
features back, install Outlook.
