Every time I power down my computer and then turn it back
on, the incomming mail server changes from
mail.comcast.net to local host. I have to change this
setting in order to send/receive emails. Can you tell me
why this happens and what I can do to stop it?

This is usually caused by an antivirus program which is set to scan incoming
messages, or by a proxy server program. If you are using either of those,
try temporarily disabling them and see if that takes care of the problem.
If it does, contact the manufacturer of your AV or proxy program and get a
newer version that won't change your server names.
