Outlook Downloads same messages every day

HI

I'm having a problem with Outlook 2007. Each day when I start up, outlook
dowloads previously downloaded messages.
I do leave messages on the server for five days so that I can also access my
email online when not at my own computer.
However, I've never had the problem with previous outlooks not knowing that
it has already downloaded these messages.
This usually only happens the first email fetch of the day or if I make
changes to the email account settings.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Use the webmail interface to your mailbox and delete all items sitting
in the Inbox (or move them to a different folder if you still want them
and you are using POP to access your mailbox instead of IMAP). Then see
if Outlook works thereafter with your mailbox for new e-mails that you
receive.

Outlook can get stuck trying to reretrieve the same messages because it
records status of the mail session after the mail session rather than
for each individual message. If one of the items fails to download okay
then Outlook thinks the mail session failed. If there was an error
during the mail session, Outlook will retry the same mail session and
end up pulling the same messages. Sometimes a message in your mailbox
causes the mail server to have fits in trying to deliver it. The
message might be corrupted or for some reason that you'll never find out
the mail server just can't manage to offer that message. So by getting
that message out of your mailbox then the mail server works again and
then so does Outlook. Before webmail became popular, and only if your
e-mail provider gave you telnet access, you used to perform the same
task by telnetting into your account and using a command-line mail
program to go into your mailbox and delete the items from your mailbox
to get the mail server working again for your account. If you didn't
have telnet access (or you don't have webmail access now) then you have
to call their tech support to get them to delete all the items from your
Inbox.

About twice a year I have to call my ISP to get my mailbox cleared out
because I can't even use their webmail interface to delete the defective
item. Even their webmail interface pukes on the item. They don't give
me telnet access to try to use a command-line mail program to see if I
can get it cleared up that way, so I'm stuck calling them to clean out
my mailbox. It's a server-side problem that gets exhibited to the user
by behavior in their local client but isn't the client's fault.

This indicates a problem in the mail profile. Create a new one and the
problem should go away following the first send/receive with the new
profile.
