Outlook does not automatically send/receive when started

My Outlook 2000 does not automatically send and receive
emails when the program is started. I have checked the box
called "send messages immediately when connected".

Does anyone know what I can do?

You can post your mail account type, connection type, and automatic polling
settings so someone can answer you.
