Outlook crashing on receiving large file attachments

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it please ?

Outlook 2002 SP3 on Windows 2000 Pro. SP4

Whenever I receive a file attachment over 1 mb .. over my allowed
automatic download size .. on clicking " Mark to download message" Outlook
will either freeze, close immediately or display an error message saying " A
fault has happened and an Outlook.exe error log is being created" and then
close.

Trying to reopen Outlook after this has occurred involves several attempts
and then the annoying wait of 6 or 7 minutes whilst Outlook " Checks the
Archive Data File, which was not closed properly, for problems". The time
taken seemingly irrespective of how large the Archive Data File is.

How can I fix this problem and where do I find the Outlook.exe Error Log, to
see if I can understand what is wrong .. please.

Cheers

David

Make sure you aren't scanning incoming mail with an integrated anivirus
or -spam scanner.
