OUTLOOK continues to CHURN - slow to respond

W

WGD

Recently "installed" Outlook 2007 (along with Office Pro 2007).

The only appl that is SLOW is Outlook. The HD continues to Churn - domiant
process running is 'searchprotocolhost'.

Path File space consummed is in the neighborhood of 1G. (Dual-core AMD
machine has 2G RAM).

ALL other Office 2007 applications run FAST.

When writing a msg under OUTLOOK, screen often lags behind the typing.

When deleting msgs, process runs FAST and SLOW, very slow.

What am I doing wrong?? Suggestions?

I have the same issue (except dominant process is outlook.exe) on a 2GB ram
Dell core2duo box.

Hi Skip!

Sorry - but glad, in a way, that I am not alone.

Would someone please advise how to remove OUTLOOK. I cannot find it listed
in and ADD-REMOVE list.

The somewhat lumbering Outlook and constant HD churning suggests that maybe
I should UNINSTALL and then Reinstall.

Meanwhile OE does a good job (less a contact mngr!). It is fast. Maybe
that is why it is call Outlook EXPRESS!

Best,
WayneGD

I doubt the uninstall / reinstall will help. I like & use Outlook 2007 ...
but there's no getting around it being slow & a hard disk thrasher. Fixing
pst, defrag, more memory (2 gig), fairly small pst size (50meg), & latest
updates = no difference. Other Office 2007 apps are reasonably fast.

A patch for Outlook 2007 was just released to help resolve this issue.

This patch only fixes performance issues with large PST files. The
posters and myself do *not* have large PSTs. The patch made no
difference here at all.

Cheers,

Guy

FYI...the patch worked for me, even with a small-ish OST file...

TBH, I hope SP1 for Office 2007 gets out of the door soon.

Cheers,

Guy
