Outlook contact

When I try to change a phone number in an outlook 2003 contact, I get an
error message that Outlook has to shut down. I can change anything else in
the contact information except for phone numbers.

Disable all add-ins and check if you still have this problem.

I don't have any add-ins loaded in Outlook.
