Outlook conflict

Bob Campbell

Hi,

I have a user who had been using the Eudora email client, and has upgraded
to Office 2003. When she opens Outlook 2003, she gets this message:

A recently installed program may cause Microsoft Office or other
e-mail-enabled programs to function improperly. Outlook can resolve this
conflict without affecting the program that originally caused the problem.
Do you want Outlook to resolve this problem? Yes No.

She clicks the Yes button, and it says she needs to restart the computer to
finalize the resolution. After restarting the computer, the message
reappears when she opens Outlook.

Under Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs tab, the E-mail program is
set to Microsoft Office Outlook. The computer is a Pentium III, running
Windows XP SP1.

Any ideas?

Many times, it's anti virus software that causes this. This may be the
situation here, too.

In Outlook, select Tools | Options | Other | Advanced Options | Add-in
Manager.

What add-ins are checked? Do any of the refer to Norton, SAV, McAffee, or
the like?

Hi Patrick,

There were 2 add-ins, both checked:
LDVP
Exchange Extensions property pages

Norton File System Real-time Protection was enabled on the computer. I
disabled it and then tried to resolve the conflict, restarted the computer,
but the conflict message still popped up.

Bob.

LDVP = LANDesk Virus Protection - Syamntec/Norton uses this. Uncheck that
and restart Outlook.
