outlook closes automatically on minimize or shortcut icons

i'm having trouble figuring out how to stop outlook from automatically
closing when I choose minimize or click on the shortcut icons on the bottom
bar to reveal the desktop.

It doesn't close, it minimizes to the system tray. Right-click the Outlook
icon in the system tray and uncheck "Hide When Minimized".
