Minimize Shuts Down Outlook

When I click the minimize button, MS Outlook closes instead of staying on the task bar. Sames goes if I click the icon on the bottom task bar; click once and swaps to another open program, click again and it closes.

What is going on? Any ideas will be gratefully received.
