Outlook calendar sends meeting reminder to pager/cell phone

Outlook should enable you to have the calendar reminder sent to a mobile
device. Ideally you could check a box in the calendar item. However, it
would also work if you could create a rule that would trigger x minutes
before a meeting and send a notice (smtp, sms,....) to a mobile device. Not
everyone has a PDA that is synced with Outlook.

To some degree the basic issue is that you can not create a rule that has to
do with calendar items. This does not seem to make sense. Almost all the
rules deal with messages being sent or received. Why can't I create a rule
that has to do with the calendar?

Thanks,

Brock

http://www.slipstick.com/addins/pager.htm for pager/sms solutions.

Rules act on messages only since that is the one area over which you have no
control EXCEPT for rules. Rules move/delete/forward etc. messages. What
kind of rule would you want to create for calendar items that you cannot
implement yourself when they are created by you??

After furious head scratching, Brock Stringer asked:

Brock, I have created a service, called messagingreminder.com, that sends
your reminders to your mobile phone automatically -- even if you're computer
is off!

You don't have to pay anything to download the software and you can try it
out for a month free. Actually, I'm currently developing a new version of
the software and an updated version of my web site. (It's a little too
simple right now so I'm going to add more information about my service and I
want change the design of the web site as well to make it larger.)

I'm the sole person behind the start-up, so if you have any questions or
comments, please feel free to e-mail me. Thanks, Matt.
