I have noticed that for a public folder I manage, on the outlook bar it does
not show when I have new/unread items in this folder. Other regular folders
do show the number of new items in brackets next to the shortcut name, but
not this one. Any ideas?

Other info that is of interest: Previously it would show incorrectly the
number of unread items. So I selected the folder name and marked all as
unread. Since then, it doesn't show any.

The Outlook Bar shows the unread count for a public folder only for those folders in the Public Folders\Favorites hierarchy.

Ok, so what does that mean for me? Do I add the public folder to favourites?
If so, I have already done this and it made no difference. What other things
can I check?

After you add the folder to favorites, you need to add a shortcut to the Outlook Bar to point to the copy in Public Folder\Favorites.
