Outlook attachments

It seems since I upgraded to Outlook Express 6 that I've
had problems with attachments. Not always but I am
currently trying to attach a pic from my documents and it
appears as a Word document with gobbledy gook instead of a
pic or even anything intelligable.... Any suggestions?
