Outlook attachment issue

This is a very trivial question, but a user I support it
having a big issue with this. Someone sends her a message
with an attachment and the person that sent her the
message is using an e-mail background like Fiesta. When
the message gets to the user, she likes to go to File ->
Save Attachment without opening the message. If she does
this, it wants to save the background like fiesta.jpg
instead of saving the Word document. If she opens the
message and then saves the attachment it then works
fine. Anybody have any ideas about this? It appears to
do this with all Outlook clients. Thanks!

tell her that the first way is incorrect. The second way is the documented
proper way to save an attachment.

It should work the same either way. Which version of Outlook and are you
using Exchange server? Is she previewing the message before saving the
attachment or working with preview off?

Sorry - both ways are acceptable, as is rightclicking on it the preview pane
and choose the option to save.

She is using Outlook XP on an Exchange 2003 server. She
does not have the preview pane on. She is only trying to
save the attachment when the new message comes in.

It sounds like it might be happening because the message isn't rendering
properly since it's not opened or previewed and outlook is confused about
what the attachment is. I know I always have a paperclip for images in HTML
messages until I view them in preview - then Outlook knows it's an embedded
image and not an attachment and the paperclip disappears.

I don't think this will help- but it's worth a try: Have her select the
message for a few seconds before trying to save the attachment.
