Outlook archive

I've turned on the archive function in Outlook and it is moving (not copying)
old emails to the archive folder, which is what I want. When I view the .ost
file in windows explorer, the file size has not decreased, yet the
archive.pst file has properly increased. Appearing as if a "copy" function is
taking place even though the emails are "moving" within Outlook. My Outlook
file is huge and I was hoping to decrease the size of the file by archiving.
Now I have 2 huge files, the archive.pst file and the original .ost file. Any
ideas?

Sounds like you need to Compact the OST file. Here's how on Outlook 2002/2003:

Tools menu > E-mail accounts > View or change existing e-mail accounts >
Next > Select the account > Change > More Settings > Advanced tab > Offline
Folder File Settings > Compact Now.
