Outlook Appointments should be able show time as WORKING REMOTELY

The default SHOW TIME AS categories are:
Free
Busy
Tentative
Out of office

There should be one for working remotely, so that people are not thinking
you are out, and are not afraid to set up a meeting with you

I can set one up for my use, but I do not want to go educate 40,000
co-workers about it.

No, you can't set up one for yourself as these are hard coded. Plus, the
Busy option prevents dual bookings.

If people in the office want face time, then keeping one's calendar "free"
does not at all indicate that. Microsoft should have another calendar
feature which shows one's calendar as "free but working remotely."

Set the time as free if you want them to set up an appointment with you - or
don't create appointments for the times when you are working remotely.

What these MVP's don't understand is that some meetings are setup with a
telecon/Webex option, and some are not. When working remotely, you want to
be "free" for the ones which have the telecon/Webex option, but not available
for those that require physically attending the meeting.

This should DEFINITELY be an added functionality!!

Every time you add an option to a mature program, you run the risk of a
regression error. For the small percentage of people who are working
remotely, making this kind of addition make no economic sense for Microsoft
and their limited R&D funds. The time is better spent on fixing long
standing bugs than adding features that few people will use.

gas prices, fear of infectious disease, the desire for greater work schedule
flexibility, etc will surely drive greater work remotely need.

A surprisingly large number of corps don't look favorably on telecommuting -
the recession has only made it worse, so I don't see the numbers growing for
several more years. Not that it matters as any change will be at least a yr
away as it will not be added to current versions. AFAIK, it won't be in the
next version (but we won't know till summer and it will not be available
until for approx a yr).

Until Microsoft adds such options the only way to do it is to make tentative
appointments in your calendar for the time you are out but available (or in
the firms other office etc)- code the subject for the type of appointment
you can take. "Working from Home" "At Main St office" "Traveling, calls
only" etc.
