outlook and pst

if i am moving from microsoft mail to exchange for my
users then what happens to the pst file that is created on
all the computers and is there a way to make sure that the
old emails are moved to the exchange server for backup

A couple of methods -

1. (more suitable for a small office)
Create the new mail profiles that reference the Exchange server/mailbox
Use File | Import/Export wizard to import from the PST file (browse to it)

2. (if you have a bigger office)
Copy each user's PST file to a new file - aliasname.pst (matching the
Exchange alias) located on a central server share/folder
Use Exmerge on the Exchange server itself to import all the PST files to the
mailboxes.
