Outlook and multiple accounts

I have a few users who have a number of different accounts settup with
Outlook (2003 Version). - all are pop3 accounts.

This allows them to retrive from a number of differenring email accounts and
to reply using any of the accounts they have.

So they can retrive from account A and reply to that msg using account B -
for example.

By default when replying to an email to any account they should reply as if
sending from their default account - however intermitantly they reply from
(and often create a new email) from their non default account.

How does the default account work ? - will it be the default reply to any of
their accounts or will the reply address for each individual account be used
when replying to emails froma ccounts which are not their default.

Thanks in advance.

The default account is the default only for composing new messages. Replies
and forwards always default to the account with which the original message
was received.

Thanks Sue,

is there any metod of ensuring that the default account is used when
repplying to emails received via any of the accounts?

No. A possible workaround, since they're all POP accounts, would be to set
the SMTP settings for each account the same.

OK....I created a POP3 e-mail account in Outlook 2003 to access my Yahoo!
personal e-mail. My company uses an Exchange 2003 Server. I want to be able
to outbound/send msgs through this account, and that is all I want to do. I
DO NOT want to dowload my personal e-mail here to my Exchange account at
work. I only want to be able to send out through my Yahoo! address! I
configured the send/receive options appropriately and made sure that my
Yahoo! account configuration was not a part of the SEND/RECEIVE groups.
But.....when I select the
Send/Receive button on my Standard Toolbar, guess what? The Outlook client
starts downloading mail from my Yahoo! account. I understand that button is
defaulted to "Send/Receive All". But....why do the SEND/RECEIVE settings not
take priority? Why even have the option to modify the SEND/RECIEVE settings
if they are not going to work properly or take precedence? Is this just a
Microsoft bug? Can this be fixed/remedied?

Actually....my boss had a suggestion. If you have another e-mail account
that you really don't use that often or regularly, why not use its u/n and
p/w as the incoming mail setting? I can always outbound (SMTP) mail through
my Yahoo! account while inbounding (POP3) on another account. And I actually
already have this account currently setup. But, I am still curious as to my
point of why the Send/Receive accounts groups settings do not seem to take
precedence over other options, utilities, and buttons in Outlook. Why would
the Microsoft Office Programming Team write the code to put in a utility for
customization that is overriden by the pressing of a single button? Why did
they spend all that effort to write the code only to have it superceded by
the Send/Receive button in the Standard Toolbar?
Maybe we shall never know!!!!
