Outlook 98

Guys or Girls,
I have queries about whether or not the Outlook98 client
requires a licence or not.

A client at work has asked me this, and I don't want to
give them incorrect information. Cannot see alot on
Outlook98 now on the microsoft site.

Always double check this with your local Microsoft Office, but I believe it
goes something like...

1) Outlook 98 was a free upgrade to Outlook 97. Therefore if they have
purchased Office 97/Outlook 97, then they are entitled to use it since it
was a free upgrade to Outlook 97.

2) Exchange client access licenses also includes the use of Outlook. For
example, an Exchange 5.5 CAL entitles the site to install and use <= Outlook
2000. (If the site has purchased Exchange 2003 CALs, then they can use <=
Outlook 2003. Exchange 2000 CALs would be <= Outlook 2002.)
 
If they are connecting this Outlook to an Exchange server then a license is
required, your best bet is to Contact Microsoft Licensing for your country.
