Money's tight and anyway, I've always been completely satisfied with my
Office 97 and the upgrade to Outlook 98 but I just have to get off this
Pentium II (running 98SE). So I purchased a 3G P4 (Asus) machine for a very
low price and have loaded my Office 97 onto XP Pro. (I've read elsewhere in
this forum that this will work fine.)
Now, when I attempt to do the upgrade from Outlook 97 to Outlook 98, I get
the following error message:
"Setup has encountered a problem which makes it necessary for you to reboot
your machine before setup can continue. Please reboot your machine and then
rerun setup"
However, rebooting has no effect. I still get the same message each time I
try the upgrade. BTW, the install process progresses quite far, allowing me
to enter the product key, choose the location for the program files, check
for previous versions of Outlook, etc., but when it finally gets down to
installing files, it bombs with the error message shown above.
Any help will be so, so welcomed.
