outlook 97 startup problem

HELP!! I've got a problem with a MS program that I can't seem to find any
help on so any suggestions will be appreciated.
Basically, I can't start my MSOUTLOOK 97 program, I keep getting an error
message saying that a system error has occurred and the program is being
shutdown, at least with typical MS efficiecy it says the exception number is
c0000005 which is a BIG help.

I"ve been using this program on my computers with both Windows 98 and now
Windows 2000 without a problem (although I only use it for the Calendar,
Tasks, and Contacts (but not for email or network access) Unfortunately, I
made the mistake of allowing my most recent internet security program to
contact and install several updates from MicroSoft and sure enough, next time
I booted up the computer, this program won't start. I realize that MS
considers these old versions of OUTLOOK to be an Albertross around their
neck, because of the huge security holes that have been discovered, but the
Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks have never been replaced in a single, easy to
use program.

Now I've got a problem; I need to get to my Contacts data from this program,
and if it won't start, its hard to get this information out of it in a useful
format. I'm sure others have had this problem before, and have either found
a "work around" or at least discovered which update causes this problem and
how to unstall it.

Again, any information about this will be greatly appreciated.

Here's a partial copy of the DrWatson error log from a recent attempt to
start my MSOUTLOOK program. I can provide a complete copy of the file if it
would be useful.

I realize that MS

I'm not trying to be mean, but this struck me as very funny. Do you mean
Albert Ross the attorney
(http://www.mmmlaw.com/attorney/search_name.asp?attorneyid=187), Albert Ross
the band (http://www.myspace.com/albertrossandtheotters), Albert Ross the
writer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0743187/) or some other Albert Ross
(http://wink.com/name/Albert-Ross)? Actually, I know you really mean the bird
"albatross", when used as a metaphor
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albatross_(metaphor)). Thanks for the
unintentional chuckle.

Using Windows Explorer, determine the size of the PST. How large is it?
