outlook 97 outgoing authentication

I have a client that uses Outlook Express for email and
Outlook 97 for the Calender feature. I tried to configure
Outlook 97 to send and receive her email so she could use
just the one service for both. They are on Verizon DSL
and their outgoing server requires authentication. I did
not see a setting for outgoing authentication. Is it
possible to set this up for this very nice lady?

You need to download and install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch for
Outlook 97. You can find it on Microsoft Downloads or on Office Downloads.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer
