Outlook 97 and 2003 incompatibilities?

H

Helpdesk

We are using an Exchange 5.5 server with terminal services over Windows 2000
Server to Windows 2000 clients using Office 97. The servers and clients are
up to date with Service Packs/Hotfixes/etc.. We have been slowly upgrading
users to Office 2003, and we now have one user with a problem we cannot seem
to find a fix for (and very few newsgroups with related problems).

She uses Outlook 2003 at the office which works fine, however when she
brings her laptop home and uses terminal services to get on our servers
remotely, the Outlook 97 splash screen shows up, then the program terminates
with no errors.

From our end, we log onto terminal services with her account, and receive
the "Outlook.exe has generated errors and must close" error, but the kicker
is that this problem is intermittent. It seems to happen for about a week,
then goes away for two months, or at least that has been the pattern twice
so far.

We'd be open to most suggestions, short of uninstalling Service Packs or
Exchange.

Thanks in advance,
Ben W

she should avoid using outlook 2003 with outlook 2000 or older. There are a
number of incompatibilities. She should use OWA or upgrade at home.
