outlook 2010 search broken

Gregg D.

My search no longer retrieves anything in outlook 2010. It doesn't matter if
I am searching email or contacts. Any ideas?

The only way I can find a contact is to use filter and narrow it down.

I have tried rebuilding the index. Still no luck. I also noticed
that every time I restarted outlook 2010 the add-in for the email
indexer (mssphtb.dll) was disabled. I finally removed it figuring I
could just reinstall it but I don't see a choice to do that anywhere.
This is really annoying.

did you try rebuilding the index?

For the record I am just running in in safe mode and it works great.
I tried both xobni & looken, xobni works well but lookeen didn't work
at all. There are a lot of things I like about xobni but also a lot I
don't. Either way the biggest problem I have is when I am looking for
a contact.

I don´t know what you have for problems with Lookeen, because I work with Lookeen and it works perfect! With everything, the indexing is fast, the search too and the results are always the right one!

Your search add-in is probably disabled.
Go to File - Outlook Options - Add-Ins.

At the bottom you will see Manage:COM additns and hit go. You should re-enable it there.

I'd take a searchtool for Outlook.
I'd take a searchtool for Outlook. The standart search in Outlook is no
really good relating search options and accuracy

You could try the searchtool 'Lookeen' (http://www.lookeen.net)
They have a 14-Day Trialversion and I bet you will love it :
