Outlook 2007 refuses to log on to server

I use Outlook to download email. I have just installed Outlook 2007 and
suddenly it is refusing to log on to the email server. I have checked and
double checked settings. I have switched off email virus scanning.

Another thing, when I use send/receive to check for recent emails or to send
email, it insists on trying to dial -up a connection even though I have
checked the setting to connect via LAN.

Help! Any suggestions please.
 
Check your Internet explorer settings.
tools,internet options connections.
Outlook may be getting its information from there which is why it is
resetting.
