Outlook 2007 Leaves Task Running after Exit

Frequently (more often than not) O2007 leaves the Outlook task running after
I close the application. This is not a transient condition; i.e., waiting for
it to close doensn't help. I've disabled ALL addins and the problem persists.
I'm not using Google desktop. I've created a new profile. The problem
persists and is driving me nuts. What else is there? How can I troubleshoot
this problem?

Have you run ScanPST.EXE on your PST files? I had a few issues with Outlook
staying open for a long while after exiting. I dealt with them with PST
fixing and making sure I wasn't in the middle of a send/receive cycle.
