Outlook 2007 IMAP slowdown and no flags

Hello,

I have noticed two things using IMAP accounts with Outlook 2007:

1) The speed of accessing the IMAP folders tends to be slow (2-3 seconds).
This is even the case for deleting messages. I cannot understand why this
cannot be handeled in an asynchronous way like in the Opera Email client.
Opera has virtually no waiting times and can be considered "real-time"
contrary to Outlook. Is there some kind of option to speed this up? I cannot
think of any reason why not to do the Imap server communication
asynchronously.

2) For my IMAP accounts I have only very limited capability for flagging
messages, that is, I can only flag a message or clear the flag. I cannot
selct any reminders nor other flags. I can do that though with the messages
which are in the standard sent items folder unter "Personal Folders". What is
going on here?

Thanks for your input.

Nothing - that's standard behaviour for IMAP accounts....

Are you serious? This is like one of the most important functionalities -
without it, there is really no point of using Outlook as an Email/Calendar
client for IMAP accounts.

What alternatives do I have? I wouldn't like to switch to pop3 because I
want to keep my emails on the Server. Any suggestions?

regards,
Jannis

That depends on why you need to keep messages on the server....

Hi,

I would like the messages to be accessible from the webinterface as well,
because I mainly use my laptop to check the mails, but sometimes also my
desktop.
Any suggestions?

Then IMAP is certainly your best bet, but AFAIK there's no way round the
flagging restrictions....
