Outlook 2007 Hangs Replying to or Creating Messages

My Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager hangs when replying to or
creating new messages. The CPU goes to 100% and I have to end it with Task
Manager. I can open the reply to or new message window and enter info in the
TO and Subject fields fine but shortly after I begin to type in the body of
the message it hangs. I turned off auto save drafts but that did not help.
Word seems to be working fine. This is the production version of 2007
released yesterday (12.0.4518.1014).

I found a KB article that states this problem could be caused when Word
doesn't respond quick enough but their Work Around did not help. My machine
is less than 2 years old so it should not be a performance issue.

Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?

Here’s some additional info regarding my configuration and things I’ve tried
since 1st posting my message.

Dell Inspiron 6000
Celeron M 1.30 GHz
512 MB RAM

I have tried the following without success:
HTML & Plain Text Format
Turned off all auto correct / auto format options
Word open & closed in the background
Symantec Antivirus open & closed
Repaired Office 2007 install

The only thing that does work is running Outlook in SAFE mode

Hi

I have the same problem with a brandnew Dell laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400
Intel Core2 1.66 GH 1024 MB RAM . I am using my older Outlook 2002 version
again & hope soon somebody has an idea. I reinstalled Outlook 2007 twice with
no success.

Since I did not have the problem in SAFE mode I suspected that it might be an
issue with an add-in component. The only non-Microsoft add-in I had is called
Reminder Manager by Slovak Technical Services so I removed it and the problem
was fixed. Further analysis determined that if I selected the ‘auto refresh’
option in Reminder Manager and happened to be typing when RM performed the
‘auto refresh’ that the system would hang with 100% CPU usage. Slovak
Technical Services is looking into the problem.
