Outlook 2007 Going Crazy on Send

All was working fine until yesterday. Receiving email still works.
However, when I try to send anything now, it starts normally, but
begins to spawn hundreds of tasks as shown in the Send/Receive
Progress box. For one email!

I can cancel out of sending and the Send/Receive box closes. Then it
opens on its own and begins spawning more tasks. Occasionally, the
one email will actually send during this, if I let it spawn close to
1,000 tasks.

Most often it doesn't and gets stuck in the Outbox. I can't delete,
move, or forward it. Closing and reopening Outlook 2007 sometimes
will then allow me to delete it.

I've tried re-installing Office with the Repair option. Still have
the problem. The email account can receive fine. The SMTP settings
worked before and haven't changed.

Help! I need to send some email.

It's a real long shot but try running ScanPST.EXE on your PST file. Have you
had any crashes recently?

Also, if possible, can you send mail from another machine? Just curious to
see if there's any server-based issue

Forgot to mention this was in Vista.

Other machines work fine. It's just this one. I Googled this and
came up with nothing that even sounded remotely like this. Decided it
was something weird going on here on this computer. Decided to bite
the bullet and reinstalled last week's backup.

Everything's working fine again. Must have been some sort of weird
glitch.
