Outlook 2007 email hyperlinks not working

Unfortunately I am getting the following error message and one is lost in how
to solve "General Failure. The URL was: "The url address from hyperlink"
application not found. If anyone knows how to solve this in laymans terms it
would be appreciated
 
operating system? did you try Control panel, internet options, programs
tab - reset the internet browser settings?
