Outlook 2007 E-Mail File Indexing Problem

Recently upgraded MS Office XP Pro to MS Office 2007 on new Vista OS
platform. Migrated outlook files from old to new app via file export tool. I
am able to access all my mail files, however I'm unable to search my old or
new e-mail files in Outlook. I get the advisory that outlook is currently
indexing my personal folders, yet this task never completes.

Tried "rebuild index" task in control panel to correct but no luck.

Tried inbox repair tool to fix outlook pst files, but still no luck.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Roady,

Ran the suggested procedure and it "appears" to have fixed the problem.
I am now able to search my outlook folders.

Thanks for your assistance.

I may have spoken too soon. My search problem returned when I opened Outlook
this morning. I get the advisory that my e-mail search may be incomplete
because Items are being indexed. Sure enough indexing status shows 196 files
remaining to be indexed. The same status has been holding all morning with no
apparent progress. This was not the case yesterday.

What's going on? Does Outlook have to re-index pst files in each session.

I'm not receiving that many new files each day, probably 15-20 e-mails tops.

Any ideas? It would be a pain to employ the remedy each time this happens.

No, the index should stick. Try it with a new Outlook profile;

I was suffering the same fate, and the suggestions on the net did not
work (in fact my Indexing Options console stated that indexing was
turned off). After 3 hours with support last night, they fixed it
utilizing the Knowledge Base instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934646/zh-cn.
Their were reboots in between the steps, and my tech set he number to
1 (it was 0) in the registry. I think any edit causes a rebuild, and
allows WSEARCH to be turned back on. If you need more explanation you
could call MS and point them directl to KB 934646.
Hope this helps.
