Outlook 2007 crashes on opening

After 2 years of trouble-free Outlook 2007 use, I started to get a "Cannot
start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window" error message each
time I try to open Outlook, regardless of the path I use.

I've re-booted, run the MS diagnostic tool, and tried the repair function,
all with no help.

Any thoughts on this frustrating issue would be much appreciated.

Start Outlook with the resetnavpane switch;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetnavpane

This will reset you Navigation Pane back to its default. It appears that a
recent update could have caused this.
